About

Hi, my name is Divya Bhatia (she/her), and welcome to my little corner of the world! My vision is that everyone deserves the opportunity to heal and thrive.

To achieve this, I have studied global health through a medical anthropological lens at UC San Diego and through applied research methods at Georgetown University. With my study of culturally competent healing, I discovered my passion for global mental health and increasing access to needed resources.

My work experience includes destigmatizing South Asian mental health among college students with the founding of MannMukti at UCSD, supporting global mind-body medicine programs through The Center for Mind-Body Medicine, conducting research for The Afghanistan Evacuation Research Project at Georgetown University, and most recently examining the mental health of social workers in South Africa with global nonprofit Pact.

My passion projects are The Healing Collective and The Ashna Project. The Healing Collective was born from my love for group facilitation. The Collective involves 8-week mind-body skills groups and mental health workshops for various community members. The Ashna Project is fueled by the light of my late best friend, Ashna Wagle, aimed to destigmatize mental health in the South Asian community and extinguish shame in her memory.

My current day job is as Regional Program Associate at Bring Change to Mind, a national mental health nonprofit aiming to destigmatize mental illness among youth. With upwards of 500+ high school mental health clubs across the country, bringing BC2M to San Diego with ~40 clubs has been an enlightening and rewarding experience.
