📍 Bring Change to Mind

I am the San Diego Regional Program Associate for Bring Change to Mind, a national youth mental health nonprofit founded by actress & activist Glenn Close. I manage 40+ high schools in San Diego County with mental health clubs with 400+ students, collaborate with regional partners, and promote relevant evidence-based resources.

I spent three incredible and immersive months in South Africa conducting mental health research with Pact South Africa. I examined the psychosocial experiences of social workers engaging with grief and violence and advocated for support on behalf of the community to stakeholders.

I assisted with the world's first study on the organization and effects of the Afghanistan evacuation in August 2021. I proposed an additional study exploring the mental health experiences of those involved in the evacuation and interviewed experts to identify key mental health patterns.

I served as Communications Officer for GHO, a student-run effort to facilitate equitable discourse on key global issues. During an event on Mental Health & Yoga, I presented a talk on Trauma-Recovery Yoga and lessons learned as a practitioner of the cultural practice that has transitioned to the Western world.

As a Research Intern for CMBM, I conducted various research projects for the CEO/Founder of the global nonprofit to support its mind-body medicine trauma programs. I also participated in two five-day training programs teaching the underpinnings of mind-body medicine and the foundations of emotional resilience. Inspired by this meaningful and sustainable model of healing.

As the Founder and Vice President of MannMukti at UC San Diego, a university chapter of the national nonprofit, I created safe spaces for South Asian college students to engage with their mental health. This project launched during the COVID-19 pandemic, a time when most students were home or isolated from their families overseas, prompting them to engage with MannMukti for emotional support and discussion on cultural conflict.

I worked as an Immunization Program Intern in the Preventative Medicine Department in the U.S. Navy in San Diego, CA. I held this role during the COVID-19 pandemic, which was an intensive experience in understanding government health structures and the rollout of COVID-19 vaccinations for active duty members, staff, and beneficiaries.

I was a Global Talent Recruitment Intern for the U.S. Department of State, gaining an understanding of their global foreign affairs programs and presenting this to colleges across the country.

I was recruited as a Site Leader for Alternative Breaks at UC San Diego following my participation as a lobby delegate at US Congress, advocating for the DREAM Act to advocate for undocumented student protection. In my leadership roles following this, I planned service-learning trips to Washington, DC, and New York City for civic engagement and homelessness. Unfortunately, due to the pandemic, these trips were canceled. However, I utilized my position to continue advocacy works through my podcast, "Activists-in-Progress", and blog, "Self-Care for Activists".

At the start of my journey in global work, I was the Communications & Marketing Intern for Krupa, a nonprofit based in India designed to elevate platforms for women and storytelling. (Photos by Rubini Naidu)
